Sant Agnello Holidays

Experience A Taste Of The Real Italy…

Sant Agnello is set on the Sorrento peninsular in the Neapolitan Riviera and very close to Sorrento itself. It is famed for its statuesque church and imposing bell tower that dominate the small town. Sant Agnello holidays offer a taste of the real Italy away from the hustle and bustle of some of the larger towns yet near enough to Sorrento so you are never far away from its shops and livelier bars and restaurants. Cheap package holidays to Sant Agnello are a little hard to come by however as there are only a handful or so of accommodations to choose from, hence the reason you won’t find many bargain self catering deals either. What you will find are traditional, often family run guest houses and small hotels offering an intimate service with a huge amount of Italian passion and Neapolitan culture thrown in.

The beach at Sant Agnello may be small but it is perfectly formed, hugging the rocky coastline, overlooked by spectacular cliffs and quieter than most of its neighbours even during the peak summer season. There are steps and an elevator down the steep incline and on a clear day you can even see the imposing Mount Vesuvius looming in the distance. There are shower and toilet facilities plus a couple of refreshment stalls; all you need for the perfect day at the beach on holidays to Sant Agnello. For a change of scenery, Punta Sant Elia is just along the coast and a few miles to the north lies the Bay of Leranto with small green islets and a quaint Italian harbour.

Visit The Fascinating Towns Of Pompeii And Herculaneum…

Sightseeing around the village would encompass the stunning church which stands proudly in the Piazza Sant Agnello, the Piazza Matteotti and the Palazzo Municipio, all of which are wonderful pieces of architecture. The gardens around the town are extremely well kept and the floral contributions both colourful and wonderfully fragrant. No holidays in Sant Agnello could possibly be complete without exploring a little further afield. You can walk into nearby Sorrento with its vast array of bars and restaurants, or why not hire a car, or take an organised trip to Positano and Amalfi, both of which started life as small fishing villages and are now major tourist attractions in their own rights. Positano offers the church of Santa Maria Assunta, with the rare black Madonna, whilst Amalfi boasts The Emerald Grotto, a natural wonder with waters that glow deep green and reflect an abundance of stalactites and stalagmites.

Another exciting day out would be a boat ride over to the stunning island of Capri, but perhaps the icing on the cake on all Sant Agnello holidays would have to be a trip to the fascinating towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, Roman towns which were so devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 72 AD that it took over 1,500 years to find them again under all the rubble and ash. Holidays to Sant Agnello show Italy off at its very best, with friendly locals, stunning scenery, traditional towns, fascinating architecture and an absolutely captivating history. Mix this with scorching summer temperatures and you have everything you need for the perfect Italian holiday.
