Unforgettable Kenya

What a fabulous hotel the Bamburi Beach Hotel is! We honestly couldn’t asked for more; it was like being in a tropical paradise. Our room was equipped with everything we need for our stay and the air con was a blessing as it was so hot. We had a sea view room which was perfect and had some of the best views we have ever seen. The beach is really nice and the sea is so clear and warm to swim in. The fish you see when snorkelling are so tropical too, a streak of colourful as they swim past.

The stunning white sands

The lovely freeform pools are surrounded by palm trees making giving them a lagoon-like look. They are cleaned every day. The animation team work hard to keep everybody entertained throughout the day, although there is no pressure to join in. The evening entertainment is decent quality, with something different every night from dancers to singers to magicians… The staff are excellent and can’t do enough for you – from the moment we arrived ‘til the moment we left they were all so friendly and helpful.

The food is exceptional with fresh cooked fish, meats and there was also a good variety of vegetarian food and salads, there was certinaly a great variety for our 2 week stay. The little snack bar is perfect for refreshments during the day and they serve the best tasting pancakes we’ve tasted in a long time. It also serves pizza, chips and other snacks.

We went on safari whilst in Kenya and it was brilliant!!! We got to see leopards, lions, elephants and rhinos and this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Our guide knew so much about the savannah and its inhabitants, I learnt so much. If you come to Africa, it would be a sin not to see these stunning creatures. On the way back to the hotel we visited a Masai village which is an memorable insight into other people’s way of life. I couldn’t believe how differently the Masais live compared to ourselves.

A cheetah we ‘spotted’ on the game reserve

Haller Park is only about 10 minutes away and is a great afternoon out. You can watch the crocodiles and hippos being fed and feed the giraffes. It was just on holiday with my husband, but I can imagine children would really love Haller Park.

We also booked the Fort Jesus trip which includes a light show and dinner. The trip takes place on an evening and we got to witness such a spectacular sunset. When you’re there you learn a little history of the fort before a meal under the stars, which was unforgettable.

We booked our overnight safari with the beach boys and got a cracking deal, you must haggle because they expect it. We got most of our excursion for less than half of their original starting price! We loved this holiday and would go back but may be in a few years as there so many other places to explore.
