The Ultimate Swimwear Guide

The holiday season is fast approaching and if having to narrow down your choice of destination isn’t bad enough, along with it comes the headache of the holiday wardrobe including that all-important swimwear choice.

Beachwear fashion has changes nearly as much as the good old British weather but we have rounded up a key guide to buying the trendiest swimwear that is right for your shape.

Apple Shape

Apple shaped bodies are rounder in the middle and above the waist, and usually have thinner arms and legs.

Ruched swimsuits are a great way of disguising the stomach. A two piece tankini will allow you a little more room around the middle. If you prefer a bikini try high waist bottoms. They’re really fashionable at the moment and a great way to conceal your stomach.

Pear Shape

Pear shape is probably the most common body shape and generally means the widest part of your body is below your waist and around your hips.

A halter neck tankini would be a great way to draw attention away from your hips and emphasis your top half. One shouldered swimsuits or heavily patterned bikini tops partnered with plain bottoms are also great ways to bring focus to the top half of your body.

Hourglass

With curves in all the right places and a well-defined waistline, Kelly Brook really does pull off this classic shape.

With an hour glass figure you really do need to show off that trim waistline. An underwired bikini top will give you a little extra support on your top half. Keeping the same colour for your bikini top and bottoms will also help balance you out.

Inverted Triangle – Athletic shape

With wider shoulders, the best way to describe this body shape is a bit like an ice-cream cone, more top heavy on top with smaller hips.
Bikinis with wider straps and with under wiring help to give more support. Try mixing up your bikinis with darker tops and patterned bottoms.

This really is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to body shapes and swimwear. So when it’s time to hit the beach, pretty much anything goes these days and thankfully it’s on trend to mix separates up, or even step back in time with a 60’s retro swimsuit.
