Top 5 Things For Kids To Do – Tenerife

Tower of Power 3

We know how important it is to pick the perfect holiday, especially when you’re travelling with children. If you’re looking for somewhere with family friendly fun Tenerife is ideal. So we’ve come up with 5 of the best things to see and do to give the whole family a holiday to remember.

1. Submarine Safari

Submarine

Kids love to explore the ocean and the creatures that live deep in the sea. One of the best ways for the whole family to experience this has got to be with Submarines Safaris SL, you and the little ones can observe all the marine life that the Atlantic Ocean has to offer. It’s educational too as they give you a detailed explanation about the dive and submarine. Don’t forget your camera so you can take some amazing photos to impress everyone back home.

Top Tip – Submarine Safaris SL offer a free bus service from all of the major resorts on the island.

2. Siam Park

Siam Park Waterpark

Prepare your nerves for some thrilling rides at this fun-packed water park. Experience Mekong Rapids and rush through the water in family sized rafts. You’ll all laugh out loud as you enjoy the exhilarating ride.

The Tower of Power is the most jaw-dropping ride in the park, being suitable only for bigger kids and parents, you have to be brave enough to tackle the vertical plunge of a whopping 28 metres. The ride doesn’t end there though, you’re taken through a see-through tube inside a shark filled aquarium, before finishing in the splash pool. Phew!! This got our adrenaline going just writing it.

There is a new children’s area which is called Sawasdee Children’s Zone too. This has smaller versions of the adult rides so the little ones don’t miss out.

Top Tip – For babies and toddlers there is an area called Lost City where the pools are shallow but watch out for the monkey that will give you a good soaking.

3. Botanical Gardens, Puerto De La Cruz

Lizard

For a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the resorts, head out and explore one of Tenerife’s most beautiful parks. Take a picnic and enjoy eating under the shade of the huge trees that frame the park. There’s lots of space for the children to run about and with one mention of Mr Bloom from CBeebies, they’ll be going crazy for the beautiful plants dotted around the park. You’ll be surprised how much they will then love learning about all the beautiful flowers labelled with information.

Top Tip – A lot of children are fascinated with reptiles, these gardens have lots of lizards that reside here and we are sure they’ll have great fun spotting them scurrying about.

4. Playa Las Vistas Beach

Toys in the sand

Taking the family to the beach can create lifelong memories and you don’t have to spend much money, it can be a great option for a cheap day out. Playa Las Vistas is one of our favourites located at the far end of Los Cristianos on the border of Las Americas. This is a really good beach to take the children to as it offers clear, calm waters and has a family-friendly atmosphere.

Playa Las Vista also has good facilities that can come in handy for families. There are toilets, lifeguard services and showers too which are a must to wash the sand from between your toes. Bring the buckets and spades and have sandcastle building competitions, kids go head-to-head with the parents. Who is the champion sandcastle builder?

Top Tip – When you get hungry we recommend you visit Pasta Y Vino Italian restaurant. The pasta and pizza are delicious. We love how all of the staff are attentive and great with the kids, which makes for a pleasant, stress-free dining experience.

5. The Sound Of Musicals

If you fancy something different to do on an evening, we highly recommend going to see Tenerife’s most dazzling West End style musical. Start your evening meeting the cast then dinner is served for the parents there’s Cajun chicken and rice or a vegetarian option, and chicken nuggets and chips for the kids, followed by chocolate cake and cream, of course. Drinks are served all evening.

The show is absolutely amazing and the kids will go nuts when they hear tunes from their favourite movies – there’s a Frozen number playing at the moment. But be prepared for a late night as the show doesn’t finish until 11:30pm.

Top Tip – Let them know if there is a birthday or any other special event before you go, as you can get a special announcement during the show, and also free bubbly for any adults celebrating.
