Thomson Launches Winter Packages to Vietnam

As Thomson expands its list of long haul offerings, winter packages to Vietnam are set to be the latest addition. Keen to invest in locations boasting 365-day appeal, the world’s largest travel and tourism company will be offering 14-night, All Inclusive winter packages to the idyllic island of Phu Quoc, off the coast of Cambodia for 2017/18.

With flights departing from Gatwick, in 12 hours you’ll find yourself on the other side of the world surrounded by stunning vegetation, dominating blue skies and average temperatures of 28°C, the perfect place to kick those winter blues. And if the thought of a long haul flight makes you feel uneasy, think of it as part of the adventure, as you’ll be relaxing with free drinks and the latest movies.

The news of Vietnam hitting the 2017/18 winter programme comes after extensive company market research, which discovered that more people are comfortable taking flights of nine hours or more, including 77% of families. Phu Quoc is Southeast Asia’s secret island escape complete with jungle, beaches, and mountains. It’s no surprise that it’s set to be one of Thomson’s most exciting long haul destinations.

Introducing Phu Quoc Island

Roughly the same size as Singapore, Pho Quoc is Vietnam’s largest island, lined with white sand beaches and dense tropical jungles. Despite the new international airport and resorts lining Long Beach, much of the land is still protected with Phu Quoc National Park covering close to 70% of the island.

There is so much to do on the island from diving the spectacular reefs to kayaking around the picturesque bays. Discover magical temples and thundering waterfalls, hire motorbikes and head into the mountains or simply lounge on the picture perfect beach.

Fun for all the family

All Inclusive resorts are fantastic when travelling with kids and Phu Quoc offers a hassle-free, unique beach escape. Fussy eaters are catered for with international, buffet style dining and being close to your hotel room removes the need to take bags of provisions out with you all day. Little ones can enjoy splashing around the pool area while you relax – with one eye open, of course – or maybe enjoy a well-deserved massage as they devour freshly-made smoothies.

Outside the comfort of your resort, you’ll be met with friendly and inviting locals only too happy to help. Kids and grown ups alike will love trekking into the National Park for a jungle safari trying to spot a slow loris in the trees or heading to the night market, tucking into freshly cooked fish alfresco, bartering for souvenirs and treats.

Most resorts boast their own secluded strip of sand, offering magnificent views of the coast with tranquil, fluorescent water, perfect for paddling. This will definitely be a family holiday to remember.

Don’t I need a visa?

As if by magic, Phu Quoc has just been designated as a Special Economic Zone and visitors can now enjoy up to 30 stress-free days on the island visa free. To qualify you need to hold a return flight and a valid British passport with over six months until expiry.
