The Ultimate Packing List for a Ski Holiday

Looking forward to your spectacular ski holiday – but unsure where to start with your packing? Not to worry! We’ve come up with just the guide to make sure none of your ski essentials are left behind.

We’ve broken it down into handy sections – from boarding the plane to whizzing down the slopes, you’ll have everything you need to make sure your holiday runs smoothly from start to finish.

Hand Luggage

This isn’t too different to your regular beach holidays, so these all important bits and bobs should be familiar –

  • Passports
  • Travel documents
  • Any additional documents in COVID times (tests, PLF forms)
  • Insurance documents
  • Wallet
  • Phone
  • Charging cables
  • Battery pack
  • Travel pillow
  • Currency
  • Snacks
  • Entertainment – Ipad, headphones, kindle, book etc.

It’s important to ensure you have all the right documents for travelling – don’t forget to check that your passport is well within date too.

It’s also key to have everything you need to make the journey as pleasurable as possible – we’re talking magazines, games, and snacks! It can be a long day of travelling, especially if you’ve been up since the early hours, so having snacks and a fun game to play could be the trick to keeping the kids entertained – and yourself stress-free.

Ski Gear

Now to get you all wrapped up! You want to make sure you have all this gear in check, as without it you could be left feeling…a little chilly shall we say!

  • A ski jacket
  • Ski trousers (also known as salopettes or ski pants)
  • Ski socks (plenty of pairs!)
  • Ski gloves (to keep those fingers toasty)
  • Ski goggles
  • Sunglasses – it’s VERY bright out there, so you’ll need these when you stop for a break!
  • Hat, gloves, and a scarf
  • Neck warmer or balaclava – if you really don’t want your neck or face to feel the cold
  • Long sleeve t-shirts and jumpers – make sure to use these as extra layers if you feel the cold easily
  • Thermal trousers and top if you’re going when it’s particularly cold
  • Helmet – although these can be hired in your resort
  • If you’re taking your own equipment, do so with a ski or snowboard bag and a boots bag. Or you can just hire your equipment in your resort.

And everything else…

This is all the stuff you’ll need in general, from your basic clothing to handy accessories for when you aren’t skiing…

  • Regular clothing – jeans/trousers
  • Tops/jumpers
  • Comfortable outdoor shoes
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Sleepwear
  • Slippers (who doesn’t love slippers?!)
  • Swimwear (for the hot tub, sauna or pool)
  • A bag or backpack to carry all your daily bits and bobs
  • Travel adaptors (make sure to check the type you need)
  • Camera
  • Cards/games (for those quiet nights in!)
  • Any home favourites you simply can’t be without – that certain bar of chocolate, ketchup, teabags – whatever it is!

Not forgetting toiletries

There’s always something you leave out by mistake when it comes to toiletries, and have to scout out when you’re abroad. Don’t go leaving your toothbrush behind, make sure to tick everything off this list!

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair accessories – hat, bands, bobbles etc
  • Deodrant
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Hair gel/spray
  • Wipes
  • Sun cream (this is essential! The sun glares off the snow and is strong, so we recommend a high factor)
  • Shaving products
  • Face wash
  • Moisturiser
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Small first aid kit – plasters etc.
  • Any medications, paracetamol etc.

We think that should just about be everything! Tick everything off this handy list as you go and you should find yourself all fully packed and ready to hit the slopes in no time.
