Sharm El-Sheikh holidays have returned!

Have you heard the good news?! The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have lifted the flight restrictions between the UK and Egypt, so we’re welcoming back our holidays to the much-loved resort, Sharm El-Sheikh.

As of today, TUI holidays to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt have gone on sale with the first flights departing in February 2020 from airports including Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. And it doesn’t stop there – from May 2020 there will be additional Sharm El-Sheikh holidays from UK regions such as Doncaster Sheffield and Bristol, so you’ve got plenty of options to choose from!

Why holiday in Sharm El-Sheikh?

Along with its year-round sunshine, there’s a whole host of reasons why Sharm El-Sheikh should be considered for your summer 2020 holiday. Here are some of our favourite…

It’s a scuba-diving paradise

You may have already heard, but the Sharm El-Sheikh region is home to some of the world’s most spectacular underwater scenery. After all, it is located next to the Red Sea – the crème de la crème of scuba diving spots. And since it’s had a few years to recover from the masses of tourists, the dive sites in Sharm are now even better than before! Particularly the famous Ras Mohammed National Park that puts the resort centre-stage. Here you’ll come face-to-face with pufferfish, swim alongside manta rays and get some impressive underwater snaps of butterfly fish.

It’s a natural beauty

The underwater world isn’t the only reason that Sharm El-Sheikh is the leading holiday spot in the Sinai Peninsula. Its natural beauty has a lot to answer for too — starting with its beautiful bays. Na’ama Bay in particular is the go-to when it comes to all things beach. Serving up more of a Mediterranean aura, you’ll find luxury resorts lined up alongside its stretch of golden sands, with sun loungers, parasols and plenty of restaurants and cafes to cater to you while you work on that summer tan.

Beyond its beaches, you’ve got the impressive coloured Canyon natural attraction. Take a day trip here to admire the unique shapes of the mineral-rich layered rock formations, and more importantly take those Instagrammable snaps to share! Speaking of enviable holiday photos, further inland you’ll find the striking scenery of Mount Sinai. Its rocky slopes rise a magnificent 2,285 metres and are a fantastic place to capture a sunrise like no other.

It’s steeped in ancient history

For those that like to fully immerse themselves in the age-old history of their holiday destination, Sharm El Sheikh certainly has some impressive sights that will take you back in time. Take St Catherine’s Monastery for example – nestled at the base of Mount Sinai, this is the oldest Christian monastery in the world with so many tales to tell. It’s around a three-and-a-half-hour drive from the Sharm resort but well worth the journey. Find out more about the UNESCO World Heritage Site right here.

The sun, stars and Sahara

And what better way to get a true taste of how the locals live than an authentic camel ride! Since there’s so much sand to explore, there’s also a faster way of getting around. We’re talking about an adrenaline-fuelled adventure on quad bikes, 4WD Safari’s and sand buggies! All topped off by a night under the stars and Egyptian feast courtesy of the traditional Bedouins.

Its brilliant bargains

Make sure you leave plenty of space in your suitcase because you could be returning home with all kinds of goodies from the Sharm Old Market. Here you’ll find stalls selling everything from engraved woodwork to colourful sand-filled bottle ornaments and antique lamps. The best part is, these markets stay open long into the night so that you can comfortably shop while the air’s a little cooler.
