The popular ITV  series Benidorm will be returning for an eighth series later this year, and seasoned fans will be looking forward to the antics of the Garvey family and their fellow holiday makers.

The sitcom, which is a comedy about Brits abroad in Spain, is filmed in and around the real location of Benidorm in Alicante on the coast of Spain. It has been a top holiday spot for tourists from many European countries in search of a spot of sunshine for many decades, and if, inspired by the places you see on your TV you decide to pop off on holiday there yourself, you may bump into the cast and crew filming a scene! Filming for the popular program usually occurs each year between March and early July.

This season it’s not just holiday makers who will be appearing in background shots. The mayor of Benidorm, Agustín Navarro the PSO politician, is clearly giving the TV series a big thumbs up, as he cameos as himself, presenting awards to the characters in a ceremony scene. Navarro even took home his own souvenir in the form of a selfie with Tyger and Joey, played by Danny Walters and Nathan Bryon.

As well as Agustín Navarro playing a cameo role, other newcomers to the series include veteran actor and comedian Shane Richie, who has swapped the East End of London in his ongoing role as Alfie Moon in Eastenders for Alicante temporarily to play a new character in the show.
