Jet2 Seeks to Tempt Ruby Fans With Six Nations Roman Holiday

Although seldom featured on TV’s holiday programmes, the sporting package is a mainstay of the travel industry and the Six Nations tournament next February is already stirring excitement among rugby fans. The match itself kicks off on Saturday 11 February 2012 at 5pm.

Many sports enthusiasts are already searching for cheap flights online in order to travel to Rome and see the England rugby squad clash with Italy. While many fans are happy to take advantage of the great number of cheap fares available and the ease of bargain-hunting online, canny travel operators are already hoping to tempt rugger-mad enthusiasts with some great deals on travel and accommodation packages.

One such operator is the always-canny Jet2.com – or more specifically its package holidays arm Jet2holidays. With an eye on Six Nations wannabes throughout the north west of England, Jet2 announced this week that it is offering “special rugby breaks” to Rome, “to help North West rugby fans travel to catch every tackle and pass” of the big match.

The deal includes return cheap flights with Jet2.com from Manchester Airport, plus accommodation for four nights at the three-star Santa Costanza Hotel in Rome, with breakfast included. With the carrier’s cheap flights to Rome leaving Manchester six times a week, fans seeking flights only will have plenty of choice, although the package deal itself leaves plenty of opportunity for a city break, as Jet2holidays managing director Steve Heapy pointed out.

“We’re delighted to be able to help England fans be there to soak up all the action when the team take on the home nation at the Stadio Olimpico – Italy’s largest arena,” he enthused.

“It promises to be a real treat in one of Europe’s most beautiful and historical cities. And with our friendly flight times, rugby fans will have plenty of time to see some of the iconic ancient sights including the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, in addition to cheering on their team. What more could you want from a long weekend away?”

The sports package flight lands in Rome on Wednesday 8 February, well ahead of the match, and the return flight leaves on Sunday at 18:50.
