Why Balaia?

With me taking my family to Portugal later this year, I wanted to do a spot of research into what there is to do in and around the area of Balaia, and what the area in general is like.

We have booked to stay in the Holiday Village Algarve, one of a chain of property complexes owned and maintained by First Choice’s, as we were recommended by a friend. Looking into it, it had fabulous ratings and reviews on all aspects of the holiday and we are all very much looking forward to going.

The area of Balaia our hotel is situated in seems comparatively quiet but thankfully is not far from the bustling area of Albufeira should we fancy something a little more lively, especially on an evening.

I have discovered several images of  the long, wide, sandy beaches Albufeira’s coast has to offer. They look picture postcard perfect. They have a wide range of water sports to take part in as well. On a map these beaches are only a 5-10 minute drive from where we will be staying.

We are planning to take advantage of a couple of trips while we are in Portugal. The main excursion that stands out is the Jeep Safari where you will go off road through villages, streams and orange groves and also taking the eucalyptus forest in. I think it would be a great experience for all of us.

Another place we would like to visit is Zoomarine, an amazement of intelligent mammals performing breathtaking tricks and stunts. I think this will be a great treat for my 2 year old. I think Balaia is a fabulous base for a family holiday because it is quiet, but there is plenty to do and see in the lively surrounding areas. Have you ever been to this part of the world? If so, did you enjoy it and was there enough to keep you occupied? I really hope I have made the right choice, I usually do, but that’s only my opinion. Roll on the end of September when I can take that well deserved break with my family.
