Ibiza – Your Next Family Holiday Destination?

Despite Ibiza being a world-renowned party destination, with some first class night clubs, did you know it’s actually a great place for your next family holiday? The White Isle is a relatively short flight from the UK, and offers plenty of summer holiday staples all on one scenic island in the Balearic Sea.

Ibiza is also a great choice if you and your family enjoy exploring Mainland Spain, Majorca or Menorca, which would be viewed as your more typical family holiday destinations. You can enjoy the same fantastic Spanish hospitality, tasty food and even brush up on your Spanish lingo, all with an Ibizan flare.

But what’s there to do for families we hear you ask? Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered!

Family Activities in Ibiza

Tourist Train

The Tourist Train is a great way to explore the many different sites that Ibiza has to offer, all from the comfort of a quirky train carriage. There are two train trips to choose from, each stopping at different places along the way, and they’re both available from May to the end of October.

The first trip is on every day apart from Wednesdays, and departs at 10.30am. The train takes you along country lanes to the picturesque village of San Carlos de Peralta, and then on to the wonderful beaches of Es Figueral, Es Pou des Lleo, a very picturesque old fishing port, Cala Boix, past the coast of Cala Mastella. Along the way there will be plenty of photo opportunities and a chance to swim at one of the beaches before returning to Es Cana.

The second trip is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 3.30pm. The train takes you into the real Ibiza countryside, stopping at the picturesque village San Carlos, where you will have time to visit the 18th century church and a typical old farm house from the 17th century. From here the ride continues to Puig de Missa, the 16th century church of Santa Eulalia, and then to a quiet beach where you can have a swim, drink or simply rest. After this stop it is time to head back to Es Cana.

Aquarium Cap Blanc

Planning a visit to the Cap Blanc Aquarium is a must for the whole family! You’ll get a chance to see brightly coloured fish, octopus, rays and other marine creatures in their natural underwater habitat in this eerie underground cavern. The cave was once an ancient Smuggler’s grotto transformed into an aquarium.

Also known as ‘Lobster Cave’ it was used by fishermen as a vast storage tank for lobsters before going to market, but nowadays it’s also used as a recuperation centre for injured sea turtles before they are released back into the wild.

The aquarium is easily reached from San Antonio either by bus, strolling along the coastline, or on one of the boat cruises from the harbour.

Water Parks

No matter how old you are, we all love a waterpark! And there’s plenty of choice in Ibiza. For an adventure filled change of scenery to the peaceful beachfront or relaxing hotel pool, why not plan a family day out that gets your adrenaline pumping?

Aguamar water park, in Playa d’en Bossa, has a range of different slides and pools, including paddling pools for smaller kids. It also has picnic areas, a decent restaurant and a play park for when you’re ready to take a break from the water.

For kids and adults who are confident swimmers, Ocean Mania Waterpark in San Antonio is great fun, and is essentially an inflatable playground in the sea! The park is a bit like an assault course, and the inflatable circuit has rope swings, trampolines, balancing beams and slides. It’s a great place to get some healthy family rivalry going.

The TUI SUNEO Caribe in Es Cana is a real hit for families travelling to Ibiza. It comes with all the must-haves for a family holiday, including a splash park and a kids’ club for little ones. You’ll find the hotel a short walk from the nearest beach – it’s two minutes away on foot. It sits in a spot near the centre of town, too, so it’s got a close-to-everything postcode.

TUI BLUE Aura, Port Des Torrent

The TUI BLUE Aura – formerly known as TUI FAMILY LIFE Club Aura – is part of our tailor-made TUI BLUE For Families collection. It comes with plenty of pool space, a bumper activity list, and free entry to the waterpark next door.
