Deals of the Week – 30th May 2016

It might still be raining in parts of England, but summer has officially arrived in the rest of the world. That means more sun, more cocktails and more pool time. It also means more great deals to top holiday destinations near and far – believe it or not, the rainbow-coloured strip in Las Vegas and Spain’s Costa Brava region can jet up to the front of your holiday wish list.

St George Gardens Family Club, Paphos, Cyprus

These three-star hotels are a hit with families, as they feature a kids pool, club, special section of the buffet and a playground. The same range of amenities is on hand for adults, too – with a large pool and buffet meals around the clock – except the playground is in the form of a spa and gym, evening entertainment and a lounge bar.

There’s a small, rocky beach only a short walk away, where local watersport centres get you active on the waves. The hotel also features tennis courts, daytime activities and plenty of space around the pool to stretch out and catch some sun.

The hotel is only a five-minute walk from the shops and bars of Paphos, while the harbour is a 10-minute drive away. You can hire bikes from the hotel and cruise along the waterfront at your own pace, taking in the town that’s rumoured to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Paphos is a beautiful blend of old world Greek and Cypriot heritage, laden with historical sites, museums and an archaeological park, plus a vibrant nightlife scene and quirky shopping.

Marialena Village, Aghia Paraskevi, Greece

This small apartment complex is family-run and surrounded by green hillsides. The pool area is where the majority of the action happens, as it’s lined with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a pool bar dishing up homecooked Greek meals for lunch and dinner. It’s an idyllic place to lounge, fringed with pomegranate and fig trees.

Each apartment comes with a bedroom, lounge area and kitchenette equipped with an oven, hob and refrigerator. It’s twenty minutes into town for groceries or the restaurants and bars of Aghia Paraskevi, if you don’t fancy whipping up your own meal. And then there’s the gold sand beach that connects the coastal towns of Skiathos, which means in any one direction you walk, you’re bound to run into another of the island’s scenic resorts.
