I’ve just returned from a fantastic holiday to Ibiza with my husband and two girls aged 1 and 6. We stayed on the Orquedia Aparthotel in the resort of Santa Eulalia.
We had a one bed apartment with a magic sea view. The room itself was nice and very clean. It would have been perfect if only it was a little bigger. We couldn’t fault the service. The room was cleaned every day, the towels were replaced and the beds were made 6 out of the 7 days we stayed. We found all of the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, as was the Thomson rep. The hotel reception has a map of the resort and all the bus timetables which we found extremely useful. It was the beginning of the season so the hotel was quiet but we didn’t mind. Although we didn’t use them, the pool area had lots of sun loungers and parasols available. The hotel is right on the beach so we preferred to spend our days there. The hotel has a main pool and a children’s pool but we avoided them because they were so cold! The resort has two beaches. The one outside our hotel has a few sun loungers has a water sports centre at the far end. The other beach is only a two minute walk from the hotel and is stunning with shimmering clear waters soft golden sand. My two girls had hours of fun here building sandcastles and burying their dad!!!
The beach was fairly uncrowded which was perfect for us but I can imagine it getting quite crammed mid season. We found a lovely shaded park near the river which was just a two minute wander from our hotel that was a lovely place to keep out of the sun for a few hours as most days temperatures were 22 – 28oC – much hotter than we’d expected!
The resort has plenty of restaurants although those dotted around the marina were still closed due to it being the beginning of the season. La Rambla and the Chinese restaurant on the promenade were our favourites. Just around the corner from the hotel is the Eroski supermarket which we found to be really cheap and stocked everything we needed. It doesn’t open till 9.30 and every morning we saw locals queue outside to buy the fresh warm baguettes. The nearest bus station is 5 minutes from the hotel and buses are cheap and regular. We explored the island by bus, visiting Ibiza Town, Es Cana, and San Antonio which were all quite nice. We were after a sunny holiday filled with relaxation and exploration and that’s what we got! We had a great stay and I would definitely recommend Santa Eulalia to anybody looking for a laid back resort with restaurants and beaches.
