A Fab Holiday With My Mum

I went on a girly holiday to Malta last July for a week with my mum because my dad had gone on a golfing holiday! We stayed in Sliema at the Bayview Hotel. Our room was lovely and opened up to a south facing balcony overlooking the bay, which was a beautiful view I have to say. It was really nice on an evening to enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the world go by.

Our room was very clean and the maid came daily, not that it needed it as mum tidied around and made the beds before the maid even came! We had air conditioning which was a godsend was quiet enough for us to sleep well on a night. The facilities in the room were excellent with plenty of kitchen utensils and pans, although we ate at restaurants most nights so only used the kettle and the bottle opener.

The restaurant in the hotel was really tasty and offered a varied menu and the service was very good. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, they were so friendly and efficient. The swimming pool was really nice with lots of sunbeds for mum read her books. The hotel is in a brilliant location. The marina is right on the hotel’s door step and the restaurants, shops and bars are just a pleasant stroll away. The marina is stunning and from the promenade that runs alongside it offers fantastic views across to Valletta.

There are some lovely little bars, restaurants and cafes along the promenade. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy a meal while taking in the views. In the evening, the view of Valletta from the restaurants is even more breathtaking than during the day. There isn’t a beach in Sliema but an array of lidos that you can relax on or swim into the sea from. From the bus stop outside the hotel Valletta is about a 20 minute journey.

Valletta is such a wonderful place to visit with a beautiful harbour and elegant buildings. The Carmelite Church is breathtaking as is St Paul’s Shipwreck Church which has the most ornate marble interior I’ve ever seen. Mum and I both had a fantastic holiday in Malta and would go back.
