Shipwreck Beach
Navagio Beach, sometimes known as Shipwreck Beach or Smugglers Cove, is a stunning slice of paradise tucked away on the sparkling coast of Zante. Its unique appearance, huge shipwreck and flawless waters make it one of the most interesting and popular tourist attractions in Greece. It can only be reached by boat, and there are plenty of fabulous trips available to take you out to it. As you can see, it’s one of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever visit!
Santorini
Santorini is an absolutely stunning place to go, filled with quaint cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings accented with deep blue tops and window frames. It’s perfectly clean and completely charming. Santorini is one of our favourite spots to visit in Greece for many reasons, some being the exquisite wine-tasting, bright turquoise waters and endless scenic photo opportunities. If you’re looking for a chilled-out holiday with spectacular views and sophisticated boutique hotels, Santorini will be everything and more.
Temple of Apollo
When you’re looking for the best places to go in Greece, the famous Temple of Apollo simply can’t be overlooked. This key piece of ancient Greek history is located in Delphi, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus in mainland Greece. There are many ancient ruins scattered across the Greek islands, but this one has more to offer than most. You can spend hours strolling around Apollo’s shrine, learning about the fascinating history and lapping up breath-taking views of the valley below.
Meteora
Meteora, in Thessaly, is a group of towering rock formations home to six Eastern Orthodox monasteries. These giant sandstone pillars really are striking to look at – they could be something straight out of an otherworldly fantasy film. The monasteries seem almost too fascinating to be true, but they were in fact used by monks seeking complete solitude way back in the 9th century. There’s nothing like seeing such a miraculous piece of history to add something special to your holiday!
Volcanic Rocks of Lemnos
The volcanic rocks on the island of Lemnos are another vision to behold. The petrified lava has created a mish-mash of swirling patterns in the ground, making it a prime spot to snap some amazing photos! Legend has it that the Greek God, Hephaestus, was hurled off Mount Olympus by Zeus and landed right by the volcanoes. You’ll rarely come across formations like these elsewhere in the world, so we recommend you make the most of it on your visit to Lemnos.
Acropolis of Athens
You simply can’t visit the Greek capital without going to see the grand, historic Acropolis. It is an ancient citadel perched on a rocky landscape overlooking the glorious city of Athens. When you visit, you’ll be able to browse the impressive ruins of various ancient buildings, including the world-famous Parthenon. There’s also a museum you can visit to learn more about the site once you’ve had a look around. History lovers in particular won’t want to miss this!
Samaria Gorge
Fancy getting active on your Greek holiday? Take a hike through the colossal Samaria Gorge on the idyllic island of Crete. The main walking trail through the gorge stretches for 8.9 miles, so it’s not just a casual stroll in the sun. However, the picturesque journey through the National Park offers a memorable experience for people who like injecting a little adventure into their holidays. If you’re up for a day out with plenty of walking and breath-taking views, add Samaria Gorge to your to-do list!
