4 Activity Holidays that will Leave you Breathless

Sunning yourself on a beautiful white beach might sound like the perfect holiday to some, but to others the idea of spending a week doing absolutely nothing is unimaginable. For those who need to keep moving, activity holidays are the only holidays worth having and we’re certainly big fans of them here. Here are four of our favourite activity holidays to leave you gasping for more (and for breath)!

Explore Ancient Tunisia

Tunisia is home to a number of fascinating sights that you can explore by foot or car, but holidays to Tunisia are best experienced the way the ancient peoples did – by camel! Explore the ancient city of Carthage and spend a night under the stars in a tent in the middle of the desert, before venturing off in the morning by camel to visit Matmata, the town used as the setting for Luke Skywalker’s hometown in Star Wars.

See the Stars Beneath the Earth in Waitomo

For a heart-stopping experience, there can be few activity holidays greater than caving in New Zealand’s Waitomo. Take in the sights underfoot in Ruakuri Cave, where you can climb, abseil, or cave tube to the bottom, lit only by torches and the night-sky like light of the cave’s glow worms. The majesty of the cave’s stalactite “Cathedral” is sure to leave you with a sense of awe.

Get Wild in Kenya

What Kenya holiday would be complete without seeing some of Africa’s most majestic creatures in their natural habitat? A big game safari can take you through some of the most world renowned National Parks and game reserves in Kenya, giving you the chance to explore the vast grasslands of Masai Mara, visiting the Maasai people, travelling through the Ngorongoro Crater and breathing in the atmosphere of this fascinating country.

Trek through Time to Machu Picchu

The Inca people may be gone, but their legacy remains throughout Peru and nowhere more so than in the lost city of Machu Picchu.  Trek the Inca Trail to the city through lush, green valleys under towering mountains, where you will stop off for a few nights to camp while you make for the ruins. The trek to Machu Picchu is almost as breathtaking as the ancient city itself.
