May Half Term Holiday Hot Picks

Can you believe May half term, also known as Whit week, is nearly upon us again? Time does fly when you’re having fun, or even searching for holidays! May is one of our favourite months to get away, as we love to see destinations that closed for the winter such as Greece, Menorca and Ibiza open its doors fresh and ready for the summer season ahead.

Of course school holidays are the most popular time to travel and availability is often lower with families taking advantage of early booking discounts and free child places. However, the bank holiday on the Monday should give you a little bit more flexibility when searching for a holiday and you could even keep your fingers crossed for a teacher training day – PD day.

Our May Half Term Hot picks

Greece

Greece usually begins its summer season around April time and as you move towards the end of May you can expect temperatures of around 25°C. Who can resist the charm of Greece? We can’t! In fact, it really doesn’t matter what type of holiday you are looking for, as Greece has a great mix of resorts from nonstop lively to quaint villages.

Rhodes is a popular Greek Island and has a great mixture of ancient and modern resorts. Crete is the largest island and has over a thousand miles of coastline, so if you love to spend your day at the beach, this is could be the island for you.  If you are looking for postcard perfect, we would recommend stunning Santorini. With so many islands to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice.

Bulgaria

Bulgaria is around a warm 23°C in May.  Situated on the Black Sea, Bulgaria offers great value for money for families travelling on a budget. You can pick up some pretty reasonably priced All Inclusive packages, however if you prefer to go as you please, we would recommend Self Catering, as eating out in Bulgaria, is relatively cheap compared to other destinations.

Sunny Beach is the largest resort and is packed with bars and restaurants, whereas its neighbouring resort Nessebar has ancient old quarters and a cosmopolitan type feel to the new town.

Ibiza

When you think of Ibiza, do you think party central? Yes, we agree some resorts in Ibiza in the summer months such as San Antonio are really lively, however, Ibiza is a beautiful island and has many resorts suitable for families.

Port Des Torrent is a peaceful resort around five kilometres from San Antonio and is home to the popular family friendly Holiday Village Hotel. Santa Eulalia is another resort we would highly recommend and is renowned for its stylish restaurants and designer boutiques. Temperatures in May can reach a toasty 23°C.

Italy

Italy is such a diverse country and can offer you a great mix of destinations from cultured sightseeing city breaks to laidback beach holidays. The temperature ranges around 24°C warm enough to enjoy an Italian meal al fresco style.

We love the Amalfi Coast which offers pretty beaches and amazing views. Lido di Jesilo is a top resort for families if you love the beach as is Rimini, and let’s not forget to mention that delicious Italian food!
