Other popular holidays in the Caribbean

If you're still looking at other options for your last minute holiday, the Caribbean islands have plenty of varied things to offer. The tiny island of Antigua crams a lot of sun, fun and adventure in to its pint-sized frame. Dutch-influenced Aruba brings a European feel to this beautiful cluster of islands, while St Lucia's twin mountains will lure you to its shores for rainforest trails, banana plantations and volcanic black sand beaches.

However, Jamaica could just be the place for you. To find out read our in-depth travel guide and check out the top last minute hotels below.

The best time of year to book your last minute holiday

Jamaica's climate stays around the 30 to 40°C mark year round. Booking a maximum of eight weeks in advance will give you the best deal possible, so if you're planning your visit in summer it would be advised to start looking in April to May. If your flexibility is year round, try to book in term time to save yourself some pocket money, as these are often the quieter periods for last minute bargain hunters.

Hot food, hot weather, good music, great rum - Jamaica is for you

In a little over nine hours you could be sipping rum punch, listening to some Bob Marley and taking in the surroundings of your temporary island home.

Wherever you choose to make your home on the island, the incredible scenery, beautiful beaches and the welcome, inclusive atmosphere will make sure you feel right at home.

For nature lovers, the town of Falmouth is close to nature reserves and heritage walks, as well as bringing the beauty of Georgian architecture to the island. If long sandy beaches are more your style, the famous Seven Mile Beach of Negril – actually a little over six kilometres – is one of the most famous and highly regarded beaches on the planet. For the party animals among you, the renowned Montego Bay has every style of bar your heart desires.
