Morocco Family Holidays

Enjoy Agadir's coastline or Marrakech's markets on a family holiday to Morocco

The postcard-worthy sands and colourful cities of Morocco are much closer than you think, with flight times from the UK getting you there in just over three hours.

Morocco makes for an excellent family holiday, especially as it has year-round warm weather, so there really is no bad time to visit. Both Agadir and Marrakech are extremely family friendly, with national parks and wildlife areas to explore.

Agadir is definitely a beach lover’s dream, with 10 kilometres of stunning Blue Flag sands and a huge range of watersports to join in on. Marrakech is an inland city, so you won’t find a beach here, but what it lacks in sand and surf it makes up for in fun and fabulous waterparks, a great way for you to cool off from the Moroccan heat. It also wouldn’t be a Marrakech holiday without walking through its main square and markets, taking in the exotic smells and spices and buying some fresh fruit to go with your morning Moroccan Arabic coffee.

Best family friendly beaches

If you’re looking for that classic ‘unwind on the beach holiday’, then Agadir is definitely for you. This region is home to several jaw-dropping coastlines, ranging from vibrant and busy to calm and secluded. Of course Agadir Beach is the best place to start. This Blue Flag winning beach has a healthy amount of sunloungers dotting its 10 kilometres of sand and numerous beachside cafes to grab a drink in. It’s also very kid friendly, with tons of space to build sandcastles and a surf that’s sheltered from the ocean winds.

Just 20 minutes north is Taghazout Beach, which has a laid-back vibe and is much quieter than the surrounding beaches. Its shallow water is ideal for swimming and you’re guaranteed to find a secluded area to call your own for the day. For a slightly more rugged beach experience head to Souss Massa National Park. This coastal reserve has several beaches to its name and beautiful rock formations. Kids will love trying to spot all the different species of birds that inhabit the area, including cranes and flamingos.

Best family activities in Morocco

Once you’ve got some beach days behind you it’s time to explore more of the fantastic family activities Morocco has to offer. For a thrilling day out spotting some of the world’s most dinosaur-like animals head to Crocoparc in Agadir. This conservation scheme is home to crocodiles of all sizes and you can see them up close as you learn wildlife facts and watch feeding time from professional conservation guides.

Agadir’s also home to Atlantica Park, a waterpark and wavepool with a range of twisty slides, chutes and water playgrounds. For more wet and wild fun days out the bustling city of Marrakech is home to four waterparks, including Oasiria Waterpark, with multi-lane slides, rapid river and lagoons. Marrakech is also where you’ll find the famous camel ride tours, where experienced guides will lead you through Morocco’s desert dunes for an exotic family experience like no other.

Other family holiday destinations

Morocco’s not the only destination with excellent family amenities. If you’re interested in more fun-tastic spots check out the likes of Malta, Montenegro and Sri Lanka.
