Cheap Holidays in Playa de las Americas

Playa de las Americas proudly wears its reputation as a Tenerife party hotspot, although its natural beauty in the form of broad sunny beaches and nearby Mount Teide makes for scenic free days out too. It's one of countless reasons why cheap holidays here always appeal.

Top Deals

Playa de las Americas is the Tenerife beach town that's budget friendly

Tenerife is just four hours' direct flight from UK airports, which goes a long way to explaining the island's popularity with UK holidaymakers.

Being cheap as chips also helps, of course. As one of the major nightlife destinations in the Med, Playa de las Americas offers affordable yet always entertaining after-dark antics, as well as wildlife parks and coastal strolls for more relaxed days out.

Good food is never more than a handful of euros, and the tourist numbers ensure that there's a strong showing for British classics on many a menu.

Getting out of town for a small bus fare is also a superb way to connect with the wider island. While waterparks and golf courses court the more well to do, you can enjoy the serenity of the natural surroundings around Mount Teide, or do some bargain hunting among the shops and plazas.

Cheap things to do around Playa de las Americas

The most apparent way to spend your time without spending anything here is to enjoy the big, popular and eternally sunny beach. More secluded spots are easily found to sunbathe in too, for those in the know, and you can stroll the path of the Paseo Maritimo to take in the sights, camera in hand and waves rocking the shore close by.

Drinks are always easily available here, with even the most outrageous cocktails clocking in nice and cheap, while a stay in any Mediterranean country is always going to see wine prices low too. Market days in the town, together with shopping at local souvenir shacks, are a good way of stocking up on inexpensive knick-knacks for those back home.

For a few euros, you can hop on the mini-train that links the various beaches of the surrounding suburbs to Playa de las Americas, and it's a great way to add some variety to your cheap and easy beach days.

Of course, you can also go bargain hunting in CC Safari Centre, whose tax free stores offer prices a little lower than you're used to for even the most chic of designer fashion. Luckily, high street names and bargains are also to be had here, and a little window-shopping never hurt anyone.

How to get a great Playa de las Americas holiday deal

For the cheapest deals, it's always a smart idea to book your Playa de las Americas holiday outside of peak holiday times, which is to say, the summer months between May and September. Because it's tucked down in sunny Tenerife, skies are blue all year round, so don't be shy in seeking some winter sun or being spontaneous.

In fact, a last minute break is often the best way to make some savings, and anything up to eight weeks before the departure date counts as just such a last minute deal, with low prices to show for it.

Take a look around, and you'll find both Tenerife and its surroundings rich in cheap holiday deals. El Medano trades the nightlife of Playa de las Americas for summer festivals aplenty, as well as sophisticated beach life for low costs.

You can take advantage of natural beauty at the beaches and foothills of Costa del Silencio, as well as neighbouring Yellow Mountain. Meanwhile, see how a small fishing village found its tourist pizazz at Puerto de Santiago, well known for its excellent diving opportunities.

Of course, for pure lively brilliance Playa de las Americas can't be beat, as our travel guide illustrates, and if you're contemplating a jaunt here on the cheap then check out our most inexpensive hotel recommendations below.
