Psarras Holidays

Hidden away on the east coast of Corfu, this authentic island village skirts the sea with its secluded shingle beach and handful of seafront tavernas and bars. You’ll have no problem meeting and greeting the natives as Psarras is only for those in the know. Keeping it that way ensures a romantic and luxurious atmosphere, which lulls you into perfect relaxation.

There’s no fear of boredom in Psarras either, with plenty to do both in and around the resort, visitors to this easterly point will be able to visit the nearby towns, socialise with travellers from all over the world, and take day trips into the capital city to shop, dine out or party to their heart’s content.

A shimmering shoreline

The shingle beach at Psarras is unbeatable for atmosphere. The resort is protected from the rest of the island by rows of pine trees, which send off a fresh scent across the beach. There’s more than enough room for your towel, as the beach never gets crowded, and its a great place for kids to paddle about in the shallow waters.

The tavernas lining the seafront cater for diners with a rich menu of Corfiot classics, and will serve you refreshments on the beach all throughout the day. Psarras is adored by visitors, it’s their little secret, and now it can be yours too.

Two excitable neighbours

If you’re looking for watersports and nightlife, Messonghi and Moraitika are little more than 10-minutes’ drive away from Psarras. These are considered the two most popular resorts in Corfu, and with that popularity comes all manner of exciting activities.

Grab a pedalo, speed across the water on skis, parasail or snorkel around the bay with the little ones. If you like to take things somewhat slower, you can hire a boat and see Corfu from the water, finding cove after cove to enjoy a light spot of lunch or a bit of reading. Whatever your speed, you there’s something to keep you occupied in these lively coastal strips.

After a day of soaking in the sun and hurling yourself in to the briny deep, you can dry off, grab a bite to eat, then hit the bars in Messonghi and Moraitika. Many make a night of hopping between pubs and clubs in the area to meet new people, with a view to finding out about more hidden Corfiot treasures like Psarras that are only passed on by word of mouth.

Day trips to the cosmopolitan capital

Corfu Town is just half an hour away from Psarras by bus. The service runs regularly, and is also connected to Messonghi and Moraitika if you want to go from there. The journey terminates in the capital’s main square, where you’ll find buses to almost all of other resorts on the island.

Visit the Old Town district for winding streets jam-packed with market stalls and authentic Greek tavernas. Try your hand at a bit of haggling with the local traders, and you could come away with bargains like olive wood chopping boards, leather sandals or novelty T-shirts for your mates.

The commercial area is modern and stylish, with granite paving and a long row of boutique fashion and jewellery stores. The bars in this area are open until the last customer calls it a night, so if you’re out for the long haul in Corfu Town there’ll be no last orders until you say so. Even if the bar does close up, the clubs certainly won’t, and there’s anything from chart bangers to obscure jazz fusion bands to dance to all night.
