The Exeter Hotel is a modern and stylish hotel in the heart of Reykjavik. The hotel’s set in a century-old house that has been restored with an industrial chic image in mind. The decor is minimal but modern, with snazzy features like smart TVs and quirky artwork in the rooms.
In the morning, you can grab a continental breakfast to set you up for the day. After a day of exploring, you can settle in the bar that has views of the outdoor courtyard. You can book to stay at this hotel on our summer and winter itineraries and you’ll have two excursions included as part of your holiday to Iceland.
Overview of Reykjavik
The capital of Iceland is also the country’s biggest hub of activity. It’s a capital city that’s home to everything from soothing spas to ancient monuments and bustling shopping centres. It’s just as lively at night, too, when the city’s cool clubs and funky bars open their doors.
As well as being a brilliant destination to visit in its own right, Reykjavik is also a great base for exploring the rest of Iceland. It encourages you to visit the country’s volcanic landscapes, eerie caves and beautiful waterfalls. You’ll be overwhelmed by natural beauty at every turn.
Things to do in Reykjavik
The Exeter Hotel is just across the road from the city’s harbour and the futuristic Harpa Concert Hall is just around the corner. From the harbour, you can take several different trips and head on an excursion to see the whales.
It only takes five minutes to reach the main street, Laugavegur, and you’ll pass the city’s most famous hot-dog stall on the way. This is where Reykjavik’s best shops are and, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to shop under the Northern Lights after dark.
Whether you want to replenish yourself in a spa, shop until you drop or explore Iceland’s natural beauty, the Exeter Hotel is the perfect base.
