Overview of Playa Blanca

Most people who venture on holidays to Lanzarote visit for the sun, sea and sand. Literally translating as ‘white beach’, Playa Blanca is the perfect destination to do just that.

Only 100 miles from the coast of Africa, Playa Blanca provides British holidaymakers with plenty of sun. It’s hot all year round here, which is why Brits have been visiting in their thousands since the 1970s.

Although it’s a classic beach destination, Playa Blanca is also the perfect base for any intrepid explorer. Lanzarote’s natural wonders are easily discoverable and, in Playa Blanca, they’re only a short drive away.

Things to do in Playa Blanca

With the beach practically on the doorstep of the Holiday Village Lanzarote, it couldn’t be easier to spend lazy days soaking up the sunshine. Playa Blanca actually gets over 300 days of sunshine every year, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to lounge and relax or try all the water sports.

There’s also a lovely promenade down by the seafront. After a gentle stroll, you’ll get to the centre of Playa Blanca and its beautiful marina. Here, mega yachts of the rich and famous dock. It’s a great spot to people watch and enjoy a relaxing meal with the whole family.

Resort Summary

In the centre of Playa Blanca you’ll find its namesake – a small but perfectly formed beach with distinctive white sand. Then head east about 10 minutes away from the town centre and you’ll find Playa Dorado, the ‘golden beach’, which is a great family-friendly place full of things to do.

Wander in the opposite direction and you’ll find Playa Flamingo and an amazing 50-metre tall lighthouse. Also east and slightly beyond Playa Dorado are the Papagayo coves, perhaps Lanzarote’s most unique and charming set of beaches.

Marina Rubicon is a relatively new addition to life in Playa Blanca, but has since become one of its defining features. A modern, fully-functioning marina complete with dozens of stunning boats, designer boutiques and a cluster of classy restaurants and bars means that this area is reminiscent of the resort Puerto Calero, otherwise known as ‘millionaire’s harbour’.
