Everything in walking distance

The Sunny Beach resort was created specifically as a holiday destination, so you’ll find all the activities and facilities you’ll need for your holiday perfectly placed within easy walking distance. You’ll find shops, restaurants, bars and clubs all conveniently located around the main beachfront area, where many of the hotels lie.

The natural landscape around Sunny Beach remains largely wild and untouched creating spectacular holiday scenery. There are miles of forest areas just inland, which form a lush backdrop to the coastline, and the sand dunes are dotted with rare plant varieties.

Holidays in Sunny Beach

Make the most of the pristine sand at Sunny Beach

The main beach here is Cacao Beach, which is a Blue Flag stretch of over eight kilometres of powdery white sand. You’ll find a friendly atmosphere here with the happy buzz of families, friends and couples sunbathing, snoozing and splashing about in the warm, shallow water. It’s the ideal location for laid-back beach days, long picnics and lots of ice-cream.

You can choose to lie back and relax in the shade of a parasol, or you can get active with some high-octane watersports. There’s a wide selection to choose from here, including windsurfing, waterskiing, motor-launch mini-cruises and hang-gliding. You can even take lessons to learn how to sail a yacht or improve your sailing skills.

If you’re looking for a space away from the crowds, there are natural sand dunes to the south of the resort. You’ll find plenty of secluded spots where you can stretch out your beach towel, put on your headphones and take in the views.

Plenty to see and do between beach days

The Action Aquapark waterpark is centrally located and is great idea for a fun day out. Kids have great fun in their own special area and everyone can enjoy a slow float along the lazy river or riding the waves in the wave pool. Some of the wilder water rides are reserved for adults only. With restaurants and bars on site and plenty of sunloungers to relax on, you can spend the whole day here and create great holiday memories.

Another big attraction is the Sunny Beach Luna Park, where you’ll find a good old-fashioned beachside funfair, with a selection of rides including a rollercoaster, dodgem cars and a scary-fun house of horrors.

If you like the idea of racing around a circuit like a Formula 1 star you’ll love Sunny Beach Karting Track. You can take a go-kart out on your own and see if you can make your times better with each lap. Or make it a fun competition, grouping together with friends to race each other and find out who’s the fastest.

Enjoy family fun and lively nightlife in the evenings

Visitors pick cheap holidays to Sunny Beach with their friends and families to have fun and let their hair down, so you’ll find plenty to do here in the evenings and an entertaining, lively atmosphere. There are family-friendly restaurants where you can watch a cabaret show, play bingo or join in with some karaoke.

The beachside venues tend to be where the party’s at, and Sunny Beach’s nightlife scene is comparable to Ibiza or Ayia Napa. You can have some cocktails while you watch the sunset, then join a beach party or venture to a late-night club hosting big name DJs and nights like Ministry of Sound.

Easy day trips to neighbouring St Vlas and Nessebar

If you’d like to venture out to see some more of local Bulgaria and take in some of the history and architecture many day trips are available to the neighbouring towns of Nessebar and St Vlas.

Nessebar is just south of Sunny Beach and is well worth visiting as it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old town has ancient fortress walls, medieval churches and narrow cobbled lanes. The traditional houses here have wooden upper floors which jut out above the streets and often have strings of dried fish hanging from the roofs.

St Vlas is just a 20-minute bus ride from Sunny Beach and gives you the chance to see a bustling traditional Bulgarian town. It has a wide selection of excellent restaurants and offers some good shopping.
