Hamam House is an impressive cottage and the perfect holiday getaway filled with Turkish charm. Ideally situated if you looking to explore: the local shops and restaurants are just a five minute stroll away. Being on the Turquoise Coast, there are plenty of beaches to choose from – the nearest is a fifteen minute drive. Plus, since Omer and his two dogs live in a small cottage on the large property, he's always on hand to offer local knowledge and restaurant tips.
With its stone and mortar walls that are dotted with rocks and pottery shards, and its red tiled roof, Hamam House looks every bit an old world Turkish retreat, with its heavy timber doors, wooden shutters and courtyard, you could be forgiven for thinking the L shaped home has stood the test of time. Instead, it's a labour of love for its owner, Omer, who has built this bolthole – along with Gemini Cottage and The Round House – on his property over a number of years.
Step inside where you'll find it full of Turkish charm, on the ground floor the snug living room has kilims and floor cushions scattered around a sunken table. Plus, there's an open fireplace and a rustic but well equipped kitchen that has an electric hob, fridge and oven. From the kitchen, there are stairs leading up to the first floor. Upstairs, there is a double and a twin bedroom and both open up onto a small balcony, which overlook the landscaped courtyard below. The double bedroom, though, is especially worth a mention, as it has a round bed and a ceiling that's made out of ancient wooden doors. The star attraction has to be its shower room that's designed to look like a traditional Turkish hamam and has a circular, domed roof, which is dotted with small skylights. There's also a freshwater plunge pool.
