The Hotel Helios gets top marks for is central location, its right in the heart of Benidorm and just a ten minute stroll from the resorts most popular beach – Playa de Levant. The hotel itself is a big contemporary number, with bedrooms set over eight floors. They're simple but smart, teaming white walls with chunky wooden furniture and stripy bed linen. And they all come with extras like satellite TVs and private balconies. In terms of food, big global buffets with show cooking means there's always plenty of choice. Dishes tend to have a Spanish flavour – think paellas, tapas and fresh seafood – but there's still an abundance of cuisine from other countries. We're talking everything from chips, pizzas and steak. For after dinner drinks head to the open air bar serves up a good selection of cocktails by the pool. Step outside where you'll find the pool is the main attraction. It's a big rectangular number that's framed by a spacious sun terrace. During the winter, it's fitted with a glass roof, which means it stays warm all year round. There's also a separate children's pool, and a snack bar complete with a palm fringed dining terrace.
