If you're looking for the perfect hotel for your next family holiday to Portugal, there's no better choice than the Holiday Village Algarve.

Daytime Activities

This huge complex has every facility you could wish for and more. There are a grand total of six places to splash around in, including one of the biggest pools in the Algarve and an interactive splash park with a pool, slides, fountains and waterfalls for the little ones. Other facilities include a football pitch, where mini Messis practice their dribbling skills in Football Academy, a tennis court and a multisport court that hosts everything from basketball to badminton.

There's a fun-filled animation programme that's in full swing from the moment you're welcomed into the hotel until the moment you're waved off on your transfer back to the airport. Most of the fun and games take place around the activities pool where you can get involved in anything from raft building to Water Walking in giant hamster balls. On dry land there's loads of sporty stuff to get involved in too such as the adrenaline-pumping high-ropes adventure assault course and archery. There are also special events throughout the year, such as charity splashathons and family theme days.

Kids' Clubs and Adult Facilities

One of the best things about the Holiday Villages are the utterly original and completely crazy kids' clubs run by fully qualified First Choice staff. From tots to teens there are a range of clubs carefully tailored to specific age groups. The little ones can enjoy everything from arts and crafts to story time, whereas older kids can blast off on space adventures, tackle the inflatable assault course or go head-to-head in a canoe race. Too cool for any of these silly, childish activities, teenagers have their own hangout that's fully-equipped with free WiFi and the latest games consoles from big names such as Playstation.

Whilst the kids are off hunting for treasure or hanging out with the Widgets you'll have plenty of down time to take advantage of the adult facilities. There's a fitness suite for if the kids haven't had you breaking a sweat already, as well as a sauna, steam room and spa for some well-deserved pampering. We've heard the Turkish bath is particularly relaxing.

Evening Entertainment

The entertainment programme carries on well into the night. The evening kicks off with a kids' mini disco, including all of the good old holiday favourites with a few new ones thrown into the mix, followed by a diverse variety of colourful shows and games and comedy acts presented by Holiday Village's very own professional entertainment team.

All Inclusive Package

All of the Holiday Villages are bookable on an All Inclusive package as standard. That means three meals per day and all of your drinks – and flights and transfers of course – are all paid for, and it's a good job too. With all of that splashing around you'll work up a serious appetite. The main buffet restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner with regular theme nights to keep things exciting. While the kids are having a movie night at evening kids' club, mums and dads can book a romantic meal at the Italian or Portuguese a la carte restaurants, and for no extra charge.

Rooms

There are a variety of room options on offer at the Holiday Village Portugal. There are both twin rooms, apartments, as well as some great options for families, such as connecting rooms or family rooms with kids' bunk beds.

Out and About

In Balaia you're in a great position for a quiet family holiday. You're far enough away from the hustle and bustle so as not to be disturbed, but close enough to neighbouring resorts such as Santa Eulalia and Praia d'Oura to venture out and explore for a few hours a day. The Old Town of Albufeira is 6km away, and there's the option to take the bus or order a taxi at reception.
