Seaside Walks, Bars And Restaurants
Skala, Greece is a pretty village and quayside resort in the Eleios-Pronnoi municipality, in the south of the Ionian Island of Kefalonia. Its centrepiece is its three-kilometre long beach, a stretch of golden sand with EU Blue Flag accreditation. Here, you can dabble in water sports, take a leisurely walk, head to the nearest beach bar or simply stick up the umbrella, recline on the sun bed and relax.
Booming in popularity and with an expanding range of bars, restaurants and tourist shops, holidays in Skala, an ex-fishing port, are the perfect chance for families, couples and singles alike to unwind, combining all the usual pleasures of the best of the seaside, retail and gastronomy with the fascination of ambling through the knotted and crumbling fabric of the Old Town.
There are plenty of historic relics surviving in Skala, including, on the edge of the ruined town, a Roman villa from the 3rd century. Just 3km down the road, meanwhile, towards the island of Poros, can be found the remains of a 7th century temple dedicated to the Greek god of Apollo, son of Zeus.
