Playa de Muro Holidays

A Relatively New Experience On Majorca Holidays…

Nestling in the stunning Bay of Alcudia on Majorca’s northern coast, Playa de Muro edges clean white sands and the dazzling blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. This laid back resort boasts a beautiful tree lined promenade bristling with shops and restaurants whilst the gentle breeze that brushes the shoreline makes perfect conditions for keen windsurfers. Holidays to Playa de Muro are a relatively new Majorcan experience as it is one of the most recently developed resorts on the island. Classed as slightly more upmarket than neighbouring Alcudia or C’an Picafort just around the bay, Playa de Muro holidays have a slightly more affluent feel to them. Hotels are mainly 4 and 5 star making all inclusive deals to Playa de Muro extremely good value for money.

The resort is also exceptionally popular with those wanting to visit the nearby wetlands at S’Albufera, the largest biodiversity site in the Balearic Islands. They have existed for approximately 18 million years, yet the dunes you see today are probably a mere 10,000 years old. The Nature Park consists of a lagoon, separated from the sea by a belt of dunes which over the centuries has managed to convert itself into a large flood plain and is now a protected conservation area. You will be treated to many groups of wildlife and plant species, most of who thrive off each other for survival. Birdwatchers are in their element here with other two hundred species to try and spot.

Facilities The Whole Family Can Enjoy…

The beach on Playa de Muro holidays is considered to be one of the best on the island. Stretching for over 5km the water here is warm and shallow, making it the perfect choice for families with small children. Water sports are also plentiful and taking a boat trip round the dramatic coastline will show off the stunning beauty of this island from a totally different perspective. Shopping is mainly confined to the promenade on holidays in Playa de Muro although there is an exceptionally good Saturday morning market for bargain hunters and nearby Alcudia for a larger range of shops and boutiques.

There are a handful of golf courses in the area and some hotels have tennis courts, table tennis, pool tables and volleyball courts. Walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are wonderful ways to explore the island and with plenty of trails to follow or organised groups to join. One of the highlights on family holidays to Playa de Muro is the wooden maze. Open both day and night, it will amuse and confuse all ages however it is not recommended that children go after dark. The family water park in Alcudia has thrills and spills for all ages.

Relax; Everything Is Taken Care Of…

The overall vibe of Playa de Muro holidays is laid back and tranquil, with the opportunity to visit nearby towns should you want to. Nightlife is mainly based around the hotel entertainment programmes however there are a number of bars and restaurants that cater for the whole family. The best time to visit would be between April and October when there are plenty of late holiday deals to Playa de Muro available. Temperatures can often hit 80° during peak season; the sea is warm, the skies are blue and the resort is busy without ever getting overcrowded.
