Platanias Holidays

Town, Country And Coast...

Of all the resorts on the western side of Crete, Platanias is one of the busiest. The modern buildings that line the sea front contrast with the old vintage houses watching over the resort from the hillside.

This resort has the three essentials every good holiday hotspot needs. A hearty mix of town, country and coast! The beach is the real selling point. There is a section of soft sands holding the prestigious Blue Flag status. Wander further up and sand mixes in with a little bit of shingle making it easy to find a secluded spot to catch the Cretan rays. Staying with the water’s edge you can follow the beach four kilometres along so there is more than enough space for everyone.

Sunsets, Long Drinks And Parties...

All your essentials are catered for. The choice of eateries is so big you can eat in a different one each night and still not get round them. If you want a quiet nice you can choose one of the bars perfectly placed for a stunning sunset. Grab a long drink and enjoy the classic Mediterranean sunset. If that sounds a little slow paced for your liking don’t worry. Head down to one of the clubs where you can dance the night away into the early hours to one of the many ‘holiday songs’.

There is an eighteen kilometre hike through Samaria Gorge that is often described as exquisite. If all that sounds like hard work then enjoy a more sedate day in Chania. You can spend your Euro in the numerous shops. Leather goods are fantastic here and fairly priced and you can take a load off at the end with a cooling drink in one of the bars. Platanias is the firm favourite of western Crete whether you want to relax, explore or let your hair down.
