You’ll Find Everything You Need on Platanias Holidays
Like many of the holiday resorts on Skiathos, Platanias is certainly not shy when it comes to offering great beaches. Being on the west coast of Skiathos also means that the bars and tavernas that line the beach front provide some of the most amazing sunsets that Greece has to offer. Although the beach here is over a mile long, there are plenty of others to explore if you just keep walking!
It’s not all about beach life in Platanias though as it has plenty going on away from the beach too, with an extensive range of shops, bars and restaurants. The more modern sea front area stretches back into the original traditional village, and it’s definitely worth taking a wander to the old part to get a feel of the real Greek way of life, and also to admire the stunning views.
You’re never far from nature either on holidays to Platanias as it is surrounded by succulent olive groves and citrus trees that cover the mountainous region in a blanket of deep green colour. Wander through the fragrant trees and discover traditional Cretan villages ready to offer refreshments to wandering tourists and once again, some amazing coastal views.
Chania with its old Venetian charm is just 10km away and definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the west part of the island.
You’ll find everything you need on an evening in Platanias too, or for a more relaxed scene try the traditional tavernas of nearby Gerani, just a short walk along the coast.
