Palma Holidays

A Modern City That Is Full Of History...

Known as the City Of Majorca or ‘Ciutat’ by the locals, Palma is situated on the south coast of Majorca in the stunning Bay of Palma. The city is modern and vibrant yet boasts a fascinating history and has easily claimed the right to show off its breathtaking architecture in all of its classic beauty. The marina glistens with luxurious yachts squinting in the dazzling sunshine as cruise ships stand majestically in the background. This city attracts the rich and famous with people watching from the street cafes and shady terraces, always a pleasant distraction on a balmy Mediterranean evening. Palma holidays are extremely popular for shopaholics with their selection of chic boutiques displaying designer labels and the latest fashions. Small speciality shops can be found on the Plaza Mayor and street markets will cater for everything from Balearic souvenirs to leather, lace and ceramics.

Visit Exquisite Architectural Buildings...

Belver Castle, the 15th century Gothic Llotja exchange and 10th century Moorish baths are just a few of the other exquisite architectural buildings that simply must be seen on all holidays to Palma, however perhaps the most famous and dramatic is La Seu, a spectacular cathedral that dominates the skyline here. Gazing down the long nave in the west portal you will be treated to the breathtaking sight of one of the world’s largest stained glass windows measuring 12m across and encompassing 1,236 pieces of coloured glass. Antoni Gaudi’s most controversial piece is suspended above the altar here and depicts a Crown of Thorns fashioned entirely from cardboard and cork.

Set Your Taste Buds Tingling With Tasty Tapas And Fresh Fish

Palma is also a gastronomes delight as eateries full of character can be found throughout the traditional narrow streets, marina and along the promenade. The choice of tasty tapas bars, Spanish delicacies and gourmet fresh fish dishes will set your taste buds watering and spoil you for choice. City breaks to Palma are becoming increasingly popular, not only for the shopping opportunities but for its nightlife too, which is probably best described as cosmopolitan; with a little bit of something for everyone. Tourist bars, live music venues, gay hangouts and night clubs blend perfectly with the cafes and restaurants as the street lit city exudes a totally magical atmosphere. You won’t find a beach on holidays in Palma despite the city being located on the coast, but there are plenty to choose from just nearby, C’an Pastilla and Illetes provide the perfect distraction for a day away from the city.
