Ortakent Holidays

Location Of Ortakent

Ortakent is a small town in southwest Turkey on the Bodrum Peninsula.

Ortakent - A Picturesque Turkey Holiday

Holidays in Ortakent are situated a little further inland than many of the resorts near Bodrum, but Ortakent has a very popular beach just a stone's throw away at Yahsi. Families can enjoy drinks and snacks at the beachfront cafés situated right next to the long stretch of sand. Yahsi means 'pretty' in Turkish and the name is very appropriate for this picturesque, tranquil part of Turkey. At Yahsi you can enjoy the sun and sand and experience some of the traditions of the Turkish way of life at a very easy pace.

Ortakent holidays reveal some interesting historical features including the impressive 17th century fortified tower houses that are unique to the region. Built for defensive purposes, they still stand proudly over the town today. Ortakent is built on one of the oldest settlements in the region and so has an impressive heritage.

Between Ortakent town and the beachfront at Yahsi a fertile valley is covered with olive and fig trees and the scenery is quite striking. Ortakent is connected to one of the main east to west routes between Turgutreis and Bodrum and so access to both is quite straightforward. While enjoying holidays in Ortakent, the Bohemian town of Bodrum nearby has an almost legendary bar and club scene and is well worth a visit to experience the sights and sounds of the picturesque town.
