The first Norwich Airport was set up on a former World War One aerodrome that fell into disuse during World War Two. The present site at Horsham St Faith was officially opened in 1940 and was used as an RAF base throughout the war. The RAF left the site in 1969 and it was then developed by Norwich council and named the now familiar Norwich International Airport. Over the last 20 years Norwich Airport has seen rapid growth and expansion and is now one of the main hubs in the UK for low cost cheap flight airline Flybe. A 3.5 million pound terminal program began in 2005, another step forward to a successful future for Norwich Airport.
Norwich International Airport is located 3 miles north of the city centre with access via the A140. Norwich Railway Station is connected to the Airport by a regular bus service.
