Fiesta time in the city

The parade follows a statue of Jesus baring his cross, which symbolises the sacrifices he made.

Another popular festivity is the Moors and Christians Fiesta, happening early to mid-June and lasting for three days. This festival is known for its re-enactments of a heroic legend from the 15th century. Locals dress up as Arab residents or Catholic invaders and play out scenes from the legend in the town square. A big part of the celebration is the medieval market, with stalls offering traditional trinkets and cuisine custom to the time period.
