Llafranc Holidays

A Peaceful Somewhat Upmarket Resort…

Llafranc is one of the lesser known holiday resorts on the Costa Brava, but this only adds to the appeal of this affluent seaside town. Set slightly further north than La Pineda and Salou, Llafranc holidays appeal to those looking for a peaceful, somewhat upmarket resort. Set in a beautiful picturesque bay, the safe golden sands and warm shallow waters make family holidays to Llafranc just about perfect, and the lively marina creates the perfect distraction from long, lazy days on the beach. Llafranc appears to be relatively unaffected by tourism and is full of Spanish character and charm with white washed houses lining flower filled streets, earning it the accolade of one of the prettiest villages you’ll find on Costa Brava holidays.

If you can drag yourself away from the golden sands for long enough, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade with its quaint selection of shops and bars. Keep walking and you’ll reach neighbouring Calella de Palafrugell with its traditional seafood restaurants or the equally beautiful Tamariu, both similar villages to Llafranc and both with a further selection of excellent restaurants to choose from. Nightlife on holidays to Llafranc is very low key and usually revolves around the friendly bars and terraced restaurants that are scattered throughout the village and along the sea front.

From Submerged Mountains To Botanical Gardens…

Whilst holidays to Llafranc really are all about relaxation and soaking up the Spanish atmosphere of this traditional Mediterranean village, that doesn’t mean there is nothing to do around here, far from it. Take a day trip into Gerona and experience some fantastic Gothic architecture, or take the time to explore the hidden attractions in the medieval town of Pals. There are a variety of boat trips to choose from on Llafranc holidays including the fascinating glass bottomed boat which offers stunning views of the dramatic Costa Brava coastline and a glimpse of the submerged Els Ullasres Mountains. For a closer look at this amazing natural feature of the Costa Brava coastline, join one of the many diving excursion run from the marina.

Nature lovers will appreciate the beauty of the botanical gardens at Cap Roig and the fascinating local wildlife in the Garrotxa National Park. There is a selection of fine hotels to choose from on Llafranc holidays, some of which grace the sea front, however possibly the best way to experience holidays in Llafranc would be to stay self catering in one of the traditional villas set on the edge of the village where you can relax in stunning surroundings whilst getting to know the locals and make the very most of the excellent restaurants that Llafranc holidays have to offer. If you are looking for last minute holidays to the Costa Brava in 2011, then why not consider the relaxing, peaceful and traditional resort of Llafranc.
