Hotel Barcelo Isla Canela
This place markets itself as an Andalucian-style village, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a collection of low-level whitewashed buildings, topped with terracotta roofs and edged with wrought-iron balconies. They’re surrounded by gardens, and there are courtyards featuring long, rectangular water features.
The bedrooms are decorated in calming cream tones and traditional touches come courtesy of tiled floors and white-wood furniture. Satellite TVs, telephones, air-con and minibars all add a modern touch to the rooms. Each comes with a furnished private balcony that overlooks the lawns or pool area.
Talking of pools, this place has three. The two outside are linked by snaking waterways. You’ll find the other one indoors. Beach fans aren’t left out either - just a short walk across the road is the glorious Canela Beach.
In terms of food and drink, the main hub for meals is a buffet affair, with a range of international dishes. Spanish favourites feature heavily, including a local favourite of broad beans with cuttlefish. And nothing’s more Spanish than paella. You’ve also got a dedicated barbecue joint, which is included if you opt for All Inclusive.
There isn’t a better place to spend your bargain holidays in Isla Canela.
