Boa Vista is the Eastern most island of the Cape Verde Islands; a volcanic group that lie off the west coast of Africa. Being a former Portuguese colony the influence of Portugal is still evident in the cultural mix of everyday life that you will come across on Cape Verde holidays. Boa Vista meaning ‘good view’ in Portuguese is a Sunbathers paradise, Santa Monica in particular is spectacular, over 5km of powder soft white sand, massaged by rolling surf, fringing a turquoise ocean.

The islands capital is Sal Rei, which has a reputation of being sleepy by day, livelier by night when the locals stroll the streets chatting, meeting and playing before going on to the “dance til dawn” disco. Quite often the main square echoes with Cape Verde rhythms. Close your eyes to listen – you will be musically transported between Rio and Africa.

Sal Rei has a good selection of hotels, bars and restaurants and the charming port where you can catch a ferry to some of the other Cape Verde Islands. Boa Vista Holidays offer extensive and unspoilt white sandy beaches with blue oceans. The climate is influenced by the hot dry winds from the Sahara. Boa Vista has excellent conditions for all water sports, fishing, sea canoeing and cycling. The perfect location for a holiday anytime of year.

A ferry system links the Cape Verde islands together and provides the opportunity to see even more of the amazing volcanic terrain and the unique sights of each island. Enjoy a range of watersports in the Cape Verde Islands or simply relax on the sun-drenched beaches. One type of cuisine that you will likely encounter on Cape Verde holidays will be the tasty fish dishes that draw influence from the distinctive Portuguese and African elements of the islands.

Cape Verde is also known for its distinctive musical style called Morna, which expresses emotion in a similar way to Portuguese Fado music and gives visitors the opportunity to connect with the culture of the islands in venues where it is performed. Cape Verde holidays are an excellent choice for anyone looking for a relaxing and unique island holiday experience away from the more developed tourist destinations.
