This month we’re featuring Florida, home of Disneyland and orange groves, the Kennedy Space Center, SeaWorld, Miami Beach, golf, Lake Buena Vista and so much more… This is one of the sunniest, happiest states in south-eastern USA, attracting millions of tourists every year, and not just for spring break.
So, as part of our Florida feature this month, we’ve put together some of the best reasons to visit the home of the Everglades:
1. Beaches
Beaches have to be the number one reason to visit Florida in 2012. To give you an idea of temperatures, October in Miami averages are between 22 °C and 30 °C, perfect beach weather! So, whether you want to hang out in fashionable South Beach, or take the kids to Siesta Key near Sarasota, the Florida coast is waiting. A few more to try: the Panhandle Beaches or the “Miracle Strip”, Fernandina and Ponte Vedra in the northeast and the famous Keys in the southwest – gorgeous!
2. Theme parks
For many people, this is the main reason to visit Florida, or more specifically Orlando, home of Disneyland. There are four parks in the Disney complex, two water parks, twenty-four themed resorts where visitors can stay and plenty for parents to do including playing golf, visiting the gym, relaxing in spas, going cycling and fishing. No matter what your taste, Disney caters!
3. Science & space museums, art galleries and more…
If you need a break from Mickey Mouse, hit the museums and cultural sites that showcase the state’s incredible history, art, culture, science and aquatics. Some great examples include the Air Force Space & Missile Museum in Cape Canaveral, the Orlando Science Center (be sure to check out the dinosaur exhibit), the Florida Aquarium in Tampa and the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg.
