Bastia Holidays - Breathtaking Scenery
Bastia, Corsica, is a port town situated on the north east of the island and is generally considered the main town on Corsica. Bastia holidays are popular because of both the bustling nature of the town, the terrific scenery and the Mediterranean weather. Bastia weather is typical of the region, but not quite as warm as some of the more southern Mediterranean islands, making it ideal for people who can’t quite put up with scorching temperatures. The weather in Bastia enjoys 300 days of sunshine in a typical year, with peak season temperatures averaging around 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.
The difference between Corsica holidays and those of other islands in the Med is the greenery as a result of the many microclimates on this mountainous island. Thanks to the differing altitudes on the island, rain is more common than in Malta, for example, and as a result the island of Corsica is home to a lot of plant life, making it a lot more interesting to look at than some of the drier islands. This also makes holidays to Bastia quite popular with hikers. Corsica’s mountains and scenery are ideal for walking in, offering breathtaking views and forgiving weather conditions in the peak season.
