Spanish Solitude...
Majorca is famous for its deep filled beaches and tourist attractions, but for those seeking a Spanish solitude then Alaro is the resort for you. Tucked away in deep countryside, well away from the tourist trail is this authentic slice of Spain. Forget ‘happy hour at the Red Lion’ and think more daily siestas and homemade tapas.
Package holidays to Alaro take you to one of Majorca’s most popular areas for walking and hiking. A hearty trek up the Puig Des Castell is a must for anyone who likes breathtaking views and the great outdoors. The rocky outcrop is crowned by an old ruined fortress. The castle dates back to Moorish times and although it is now in partial ruins it still features heavily in Majorcan guide books as a must see. It will take around two hours to climb to the top which is some eight-hundred meters above sea level, but once there the panoramic views will take your breath away. The capital city, Palma, coastal hotspots and the blue Mediterranean can all be seen from the top and when you have drunk in as much scenery as you can then head to the little restaurant to drink in some well deserved sangria. Take in the peaceful atmosphere at the chapel before starting the journey back down.
