Enjoy the Steep & Challenging Slopes of Verbier
The resort of Verbier is located in the canton of Valais in the Four Valleys region of the Swiss Alps. The resort forms much of the western section of the Four Valleys Ski area. Thanks to its sophisticated, cosmopolitan atmosphere and superb off-piste skiing, Verbier attracts the attention of top skiers, some of whom have even chosen to settle in the resort. Off-piste skiing in Verbier is thought to be the best of its kind in the world. Given the incredible range of challenging, steep slopes that start at high altitude, Verbier is well suited to veteran skiers looking for a testing off-piste experience. The highest slope Mont Fort is at around 3330m. However, Ski holidays in Verbier can also cater for beginner and intermediate skiers, with a good selection of resort level rookie slopes and a mixed bag of blue and red runs.
There is about 35 lifts in Verbier itself and another 40 in the vicinity. The lifts are quite varied, with some dating from the 80s and 90s and other much newer examples that feature nifty acrylic glass protective bubbles to shield passengers from the elements. For those new to skiing, Verbier has seven accredited snow schools and even a ‘Jardin de neige’ where children can safely enjoy their first experience of skiing. Verbier is also very popular with snowboarders and features a massive terrain park within the resort.
