Holidays In Paxos - An unspoilt gem…
The Greek island of Paxos is a tiny unspoilt gem of a holiday destination offering up a getaway that really gets you away. The island is so small – six miles in length – that it doesn’t even have its own airport, with holidaymakers instead arriving by boat, usually after flying into nearby Corfu. Whilst the idea of spending a week or two on a tiny island in the middle of the sea may seem unappealing to some, its secluded nature and laid-back, unspoilt reputation is exactly why it is such a popular destination, particularly with couples looking for a romantic getaway and families looking for peace and quiet.
Quiet, secluded and beautiful…
You will not find the typical strips of bars pumping out loud music and droves of sun lovers stealing all of the good spots on packed beaches in Paxos – this is a holiday for those who truly want to go back to basics and really get away from it all. Speaking of beaches – Paxos beaches are a more rugged affair. Generally pebbled, they still offer truly stunning scenery, and who cares if there isn’t any sand when you’ve got the place practically to yourself? Snorkelling is a must in Paxos, with clear blue seas offering up great opportunities to see some amazing marine life, and why not rent a pedal boat and go exploring some of the even more secluded coves?
A traditionally Greek experience…
Food is traditionally Greek, with small locally-run tavernas offering up Greek and Mediterranean sea food, pasta dishes and everything else you might expect. There is simply nothing better after a long day lazing on the beach than kicking back in a seafront taverna and eating some fine food with a glass of wine. Paxos might be too quiet for some, but if you really want to relax in a traditionally Greek setting, you would struggle to find anywhere better.
