Cork is the Republic of Irelands second city and is the largest city in the province of Munster. The city is located on the River Lee which flows into Lough Mahon and hence to Cork Harbour.This makes Cork the second largest natural harbour behind Sydney, Australia. Citizens of Cork are known as “Corkonians “and often refer to the city as the real capital of Ireland, giving County Cork the nickname “The Rebel County.” Cork was the European capital of culture in 2005 and has numerous museums, galleries and architectural delights to visit and has grown in popularity as a city break destination over the last decade. There are two cathedrals in the city, St Mary’s and the Church of Ireland St. Finbarre,s.
